The major pests are the black rat, the brown rat and the house mouse. These rodents are found in the wild as in domestic buildings. Domestically mainly in places where food is stored or in food service areas as well in sewerages, compost heaps and dustbins.
The rodents also cause damage such as the transmission of pathogens, economic damage to food and consumer products, material damage.

Measures

The preferred rodent control is the use of poisonous baits. The bait consists of plant materials, because rats and mice are mostly herbivores. As rodents are also vertebrates and thus feel pain, the animal protection law stipulates that animals must be killed without avoidable pain. For this reason, only baits are sold with anticoagulants are used. The baits are laid out until there is no sign of them being consumed no more is eaten and it is clear the infestation is eradicated.
